As you may or may not know, I’ve been kinda working on a redesign to the site in the back of my mind over the last several months (since November-ish, actually). The biggest thing keeping me from doing what I wanted to do, however, was the fact that Internet Explorer supports alpha transparency in PNG files about as well as an abacus. It’s a horrendous pain in the tushiepoo, especially when you consider how amazingly well abaci support CSS.
Well, this evening, I made me a big ol’ breakthrough, because after spending nearly six straight hours reading about the problem and looking for hacks, I finally found a way to trick 1n+4rn3+ 3xp104r3r into displaying the damn things properly using two big, stupid, convoluted chunks of Javascript, which means that my wondrous dreams of a new site can finally be realized! I also want to use the name Micropooper to refer to Mircosfot in this news post, but I’m out of things to say on the subject.
Micropooper! *giggle*
Since I still don’t have a job, I have all the time in the world to get the new site all coded up nice and pretty. Assuming it doesn’t take me too long to rewrite the code that displays the comic and generates the navigation buttons for it (the current code I’m using is a horrible mess), I just might be able to have it up and running by the End of the World.
I’m tempted to post the URL for the work-in-progress, but I’m selfish.
CURRENT MOOD: Increased storage!!!
