What’s so happy about it, anyway?
Y’ever wake up in the morning on an update day and realize you have nothing to talk about in your news box? Yeah, man. Same here.
Let’s do this: I’m going to enumerate the stuff on my desk, starting with what’s on my far left and then working my way across to the right. GO!
All three of Josh Lesnick’s books; my tickler file; proofs for the first chapter of the first Tee-mab book, printed on my laser and bound in a clear report binder to make sure I left a good gutter; most of my GTD system, which consists of colored index cards containing everything I need to be reminded of regularly, arranged in a pair of 8-slot business card holders from Staples that I found work great as index card bleachers; a stray green index card with notes about the first Tee-mab book; a stray pen; various desk implements in a tasteful metal wire cup (pens, ruler, Sharpies, scissors, letter opener, pencil); Dwight Schrute bobblehead; figure model, currently posed in some kind of Tai Chi position; left speaker; baby powder (keeps my hand from sticking to my Wacom on hot days — shut up); old digital watch that I don’t use; newer analog watch that I do; gah, my cat — get the hell off the desk, Apollo.
Charger for my mouse; cell phone; monitor; empty Enviga can; keyboard; mouse.
Under the monitor: a big handful of capsule toys from the Giant in Lansdowne, PA; a nail clipper; the charging cable for my wireless headphones; the headphones that came with my iPod; two Stikfas; two thumb drive caps; two Stikfas swords.
On the side of the monitor: two thumb drives.
On top of the monitor: a Koopa Troopa; a Goomba; a Charizard; a Pokemon that I never learned the name of; a Pichu; a Strongbadia sign; Diablo; a Charmander; Gollum; Bart; Ai Ai; Orange M&M dressed as Darth Sidious; Red M&M dressed as Luke.
USB hub; Wacom pen; laptop mouse; right speaker; iPod dock; iMac.
On top of the iMac, a box of tissues, rapidly depleting due to allergy season.
Under the iMac: Wacom tablet (Graphire, 6×8); pad of sticky notes with “stromboli” written on the top one; a blue index card listing the albums I need to re-download from eMusic (The Sunlandic Twins by Of Montreal; Roots and Crowns by Califone; and Pigeonhole by New Fast Automatic Daffodils); Venture Bros. Season Two DVD.
On the side of the iMac: Apple remote.
I Flickred it.
See you next week, when I’ll describe what’s on the TV stand in my office, except I won’t.
