Is that… double sized? Yeah, remember when I said this was going to be huge? I meant it literally. As in, large.

So that’s it for the lightsaber battle. I hope you enjoyed. I know I did. I learned a lot from having to draw so many difficult poses. I definitely think I’m a better drawerator as a result.

I’ve been thinking a lot about paint the last month or so. I’m not sure what started it, it was just something in the back of my mind, but this piece by Scary Go Round’s John Allison is what made me suddenly think, “Huh. That’s… I can do that.”

So I tried painting the Explosione d’Grande Finale instead of doing the ol’ ink-and-fill thing. Put together a couple brushes that I hoped would emulate the look of oil paints, started slopping electronic color onto the page — it was fun. I’ll definitely have to do something like this again some time.

As of the time that I write this blog post (about five days ago), I’m still undecided as to whether Chapter 9 should end here. By “here,” I mean, like, after a couple more strips, so I can wrap it up. If I do end it here, I’ll have to change the name of the chapter, but that’s no big-ol’. I don’t know. I’ll have to do some thinkenating.

The final explosion thingy looks great. I think the paint effect really shows through.

In fact, I like it so much, I might just order a print of it…

Hmm. Pity it’s not attractive, comprehensible or funny, or else it would be a proper comic strip.

Dang, it’s about time someone heckled on me! I was getting worried!

Beautiful, simply beautiful. THe art is nice, definitely better than the first few comics, and while not everyone will get it, I laughed out loud, thinking, “This is SO Goblet of Fire!” The title of the comic sealed the deal. “Accio Lightsaber!” was also really awesome.
