ARGH, I’m gonna have to miss this Wednesday’s update again. Man, I freakin’ hate school.

To make up for it, I’ve got the next two wallpapers done for y’all. The first one features Anod Liddulguy reading his tone poem thingie entitled “one being”. He rules. The second one features Eugene the Sock Puppet with his deposit into the tone poem thingie receptacle, “one vengeance”. Pick your poison:

Blech. Once again, massive schoolwork has prevented me from updating. To make up for the second miss this week, I finally got the gallery up and running, so now you can finally grab those wallpapers that got scrolled off of the News section.

Things are gonna cool off a little bit soon, I think, but don’t expect any new comics just yet.

However, I did find the time to squeeze in the final wallpaper. Now sit and listen as everyone’s favorite retarded super-cat, Paul, recites his tone poem thingie entitled “one bag chewie“, which the little cutie wrote himself.

New e-mail address, everyone: . I’ll be deactivating ray@hindrances.com and problems@hindrances.com in about one month, just in case anything useful is still coming to them. But really, they’re just getting way too much spam to be worth keeping anymore.

No ETA on any new comics yet, but I did stick a new doodle up on the Gallery. Better than nothing, right?

Part 2: Just got a nice, depressing gift sketch from me ol’ chum, Craig. Good for him!

Two words for you all: June 2nd.

Until then, however, you can read and reread the first Static Cling I’ve written in more than a year, “Five Years Later, I Had A College Degree“. Laugh, cry, and maybe even saunter a little as I reminisce about the days of old, like that old time Rock and Roll.

I’m also planning to update Static Cling to incorporate the current site layout. Look for that soon.

Wondering why the comic isn’t being updated? Well, I’ve been busy. “Busy with what?” you say. Well, let’s just say I’ve been busy working on something very big that I think is gonna knock your socks off.

HA HA HA HA, you tried to click that underlined text up there, didn’t you? Thought you’d see some big, amazing project-type thing that Ray’s been too busy with to update the comic, didn’t you? Nope. I’m just lazy.

My sister, in utilizing an intelligence that is quantitatively more sensible in most traditional respects than my own, just pointed out to me that listing Hindrances’ URL on my resume, while a wise move in and of itself when it comes to the whole bit about getting a job rather than, say, not, could be leading potential employers to a misbegotten conclusion regarding my personality.

That is, while the current front-page image of a feminine-clad, twenty-something male who happens to be dripping candle wax on the back of his neck and pointing a gun at his head which is, oh yeah, some kind of bizarre phallus is not particularly scandalous when taken in context, it is reasonable to presume that said potential employers are not likely to take it in whatever context in which it was supposed to have been taken.

That said, I’m making a new comic for Wednesday so as to remove Burrito Boy’s tragic lamentations from the front page. Sheesh. The things it takes to get me to update.

UPDATE: It’ll be up Wednesday evening. Maybe we’ll go back to regular updates while we’re at it. *shrug*

Though the destinations to which this story is fated to itinerate are by no means wispy in my cognitive processes, the metaphorical coach that our illustrious yarn will be metaphorically boarding to receive the requisite metaphorical spatial displacement is late to arrive. That is to say, I’ve got writer’s block. I anticipated this happening well in advance, however, and took it upon myself to come up with what we in the “biz” call a backup plan. To that effect, here’s a pencil sketch of Stephanie Boy being somewhat cooler than the Stephanie Merkler upon whom the character is based is wont to be. While no amount of love for the kid can hide the fact that she is, in every way, just your usual Joe Sibling, I really should be fair and say that I have seen my sister wear her hair in a ponytail from time to time.

So there you go. Content. Eat it, piggies. Oink oink.

I want to get back to updating consistently, really. I think the Wednesday-Saturday idea is pretty grimy, though, so we’ll see.

As you may or may not know, I’ve been kinda working on a redesign to the site in the back of my mind over the last several months (since November-ish, actually). The biggest thing keeping me from doing what I wanted to do, however, was the fact that Internet Explorer supports alpha transparency in PNG files about as well as an abacus. It’s a horrendous pain in the tushiepoo, especially when you consider how amazingly well abaci support CSS.

Well, this evening, I made me a big ol’ breakthrough, because after spending nearly six straight hours reading about the problem and looking for hacks, I finally found a way to trick 1n+4rn3+ 3xp104r3r into displaying the damn things properly using two big, stupid, convoluted chunks of Javascript, which means that my wondrous dreams of a new site can finally be realized! I also want to use the name Micropooper to refer to Mircosfot in this news post, but I’m out of things to say on the subject.

Micropooper! *giggle*

Since I still don’t have a job, I have all the time in the world to get the new site all coded up nice and pretty. Assuming it doesn’t take me too long to rewrite the code that displays the comic and generates the navigation buttons for it (the current code I’m using is a horrible mess), I just might be able to have it up and running by the End of the World.

I’m tempted to post the URL for the work-in-progress, but I’m selfish.
